America’s top gay bachelor, almost

Tim Bias can now call himself America’s second most eligible gay bachelor. Bias, who resides in Vancouver but grew up in Oregon, beat out hundreds of applicants for the title of Mr. Oregon in a competition put on by myPartner, a matchmaking service and Web site for gay men.

Internet voting narrowed the pool of 51 contestants to five, and last week Bias and the other finalists traveled to San Diego to vie for top honors. Bias competed in runway events and answered relationship questions before an audience of about 150.

Celebrity judges included David Bromstad, host of the Home & Garden Television network show “Color Splash,” and Jesse Brune from Bravo network’s “Work Out.”

Bias finished second to Mr. Rhode Island. Both will become spokesmen for myPartner and be featured in a national gay and lesbian interest magazine.

Bias hopes the experience will help him find Mr. Right.

“Maybe I’ll get to change my title sooner than later to America’s most successful gay marriage,” he said.
